you’re my little chu-chi face [and other sappy comments]

i have a wonderful husband.  stop.

first off, look at that face.  the cutest, i know.

but even more than that, he takes such good care of us.  not only does he tend to our furry babies day in and day out, he also manages to tidy up the kitchen before i get home each day.  and, he still finds time to cook dinner for me on occasion.  he cold brews coffee for me [a preggo addiction].  he carries heavy objects for me.  he vacuums the house and makes sure that there are perfect lines.  he refills my water glass.  he reads my birthing books.  he watches chick flicks with me.  he does late night grocery store runs for the odds and ends that i have forgotten.

he asks me about my day.  he reads devotions to us morning and night.  he sends me sweet texts.  he emails me interesting articles or websites.  he gives me hugs.  he puts up with the newest addition to our sleeping arrangement – an extra pillow for belly and hip propping.  he assembles furniture.  he hangs drapes.  he gets excited about all the doodads for the nursery.  he reads and plays music for miss elinor.

he makes me feel always loved.  always special.  always appreciated.

God has really blessed me with that sweet hubby of mine.  and i am so excited to embark upon this new adventure as we enter the next season of life together.  you and me, mister…raising our little blessing together.

bowl-o-rama

last friday, hubby and i participated in my office bowling date night.  i come from a family of pretty darn good bowlers.  and i have been known to have a good game or two.  but ben is not a super big fan of bowling.  and, he doesn’t really allow himself to get too worked up and competitive, he is pretty mellow which serves as a lovely compliment to my crazy.  anyway, we ventured out to spend three hours at cosmic bowling with all the characters [and their spouses] from my workplace.  they are a wild bunch.  and very competitive.

to be honest, it was not my best showing.  but, we did have fun watching everyone compete and laugh and joke.  there were even a couple of turkeys in the bunch! [look it up, people].

i think that hubby might be all bowled-out for the year.  but, i’m sure that if we added a touch of class to the whole friday night bowling thing…i might be able to persuade him.  i’m thinking that the next time we go bowling, we should go with our families, enjoy a nice dinner, and hit the lucky strike. i’m game.

the saturday evening post

oh man.  does that picture make you want an ice cream sundae [or float or milkshake] or what?  ahhh…old fashioned ice cream parlors.  but alas, i still have 35 days left of sugar-free-ness [but who's counting?]

on a more positive note, it is so warm and amazing here!  the sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy.  in fact, i am even trying to plan some pool time in the coming weeks.  i might as well embrace the warmth by sitting poolside while listening to music and reading a book.  yet another part of the year when i am reminded of how blessed i am to live in arizona.  we get to wear shorts while others are wearing snowshoes.  i take my desert existence for granted.  we have it pretty good.

this weekend, i have big plans to cook some good food, do some laundry, go for a run with ben, and give the dogs a bath.  ahhh…the simple wonders of the weekend.  it isn’t all about fêtes and feasts. sometimes the swanky and dapper life [nice blog name dropping, rachel] is just about enjoying the little things.  the mundane tasks.  the weekly chores.  the domestic doings that make up a big part of life.

join me in savoring all the little bits of your weekend and finding adventure in the ordinary.
