happy {belated} resurrection sunday! i hope that you enjoyed a lovely day of celebration with friends and family. we most definitely did. it was such a sweet time as our little family of three. relaxing and playing and fancy sunday-best wearing and a joyful church service and a patio brunch. and then we added to the fun by spending some hours with even more family in the afternoon and evening.
here are just a few snaps from the day. how was your easter? any family traditions to share? we have some ideas for next year once miss elinor can engage in the festivities a bit more. won’t it be the cutest?
Lord, quiet my spirit on this day of darkness. may i reflect upon my Savior’s passion as i ponder the darkness of my own heart. may i recognize my sin that put my Savior on that cross, that i may appreciate all the more the joy that sunday brings. may my fervor be refreshed. may i understand more deeply the consequences of my sin and the greatness of Christ’s sacrifice. and may my spirit rejoice in my redemption.
well hello there, new week! hubby and i just wrapped up and amazing weekend. and my weekend even started a few hours early which was lovely.
we were busy-busy but managed to find time to eat a lot of food and spend time with friends and family. just what a weekend should be [minus the 105 degree weather, of course. ick]. here are many, many snaps from our time together.
the happy face of a lady who took off early on friday to meet mom for lunch and fabric shopping + my gigantic salad piled high with crunchy lettuce, radishes, cabbage, cauliflower, and a few croutons for good measure + date night with hubby at windsor + the cute little papers they give you for your chewed gum. genius + my handsome man + our plate [yes, we shared! pat on the back for us] of the porkwich and a side of ooey-gooey mac and cheese + some really tasty yogurt from our new favorite fro-yo joint, yogurtology + look at him! so cute! + breakfast of eggs, apple slices sprinkled with cinnamon, and a gluten-free bagel with “everything” toppings + during the summer, our buddies love ice cubes. charlie likes to bob in his bowl and collect all of the ice cubes that he can fit into his mouth. then, he makes his own little private reserve which he guards fiercely + heading out for a few hours with friends at the scottsdale culinary festival’s great american picnic [yes. outdoors. bad call on the first 100 degree plus day of the year] + rustin hanging with miss marley who was a trooper in that heat + relaxing on the lawn while enjoying some grub + that would be ben’s “don’t even think about touching my pastrami sandwich” face + trying to catch a breeze and not melt + a sunday morning strings concert. AMAZING. thank you hubby for sharing your gift with others and glorifying your God + a little post-church lunch at z tejas with the family + chatting and sipping ice water and tea to stay cool + capping off the weekend with a date at benihana [i have been really wanting some teppanyaki...i am blaming it on that little baby of ours] + onion soup + incredible chicken fried rice + the chef masterfully creating our scrumptious food + taking in the final moments of the weekend…together.
o God of my exodus! great was the joy of israel’s sons when egypt died upon the shore, far greater the joy when the redeemer’s foe lay crushed in the dust. Jesus strides forth as the victor, conqueror of death, hell, and all opposing might; he bursts the bands of death, tramples the powers of darkness down, and lives for ever. he, my gracious surety, apprehended for payment of my debt, comes forth from the prison house of the grave free, and triumphant over sin, satan, and death. show me herein the proof that his vicarious offering is accepted, that the claims of justice are satisfied, that the devil’s sceptre is shivered, that his wrongful throne is levelled. give me the assurance that in Christ i died, in him i rose, in his life i live, in his victory i triumph, in his ascension i shall be glorified. thou who wast lifted up upon a cross art ascended to highest heaven. thou, who as man of sorrows wast crowned with thorns, art now as lord of life wreathed with glory. once, no shame more deep than thine, no agony more bitter, no death more cruel. now, no exaltation more high, no life more glorious, no advocate more effective. thou art in the triumph car leading captive thine enemies behind thee. what more could be done than thou hast done! thy death is my life, thy resurrection my peace, thy ascension my hope, thy prayers my comfort.
every so often, i wander over to the martha stewart website just to see what impossibly cute and amazing things that she has conjured up. she is my go-to around any given holiday since she is the master at creating theme meals and desserts, designing exquisite tablescapes, and crafting perfect little trinkets. during my visit to marthaland, i stumbled upon these little cuties…
aren’t they lovely? the perfect festive confection that just screams “spring” and “easter”.
also…in addition to the celebration of resurrection sunday, this sunday also marks the end to the season of lent and that means that we are all systems go for some long overdue baking and enjoying of delicious sweet treats. wahoo! i think these little guys might be the perfect celebratory treat.
